This project involved a complete change of the back yard. The house is a California style ranch house with a low pitch roof design and full basement. The house and pool were built by a previous owner in the 1970’s. The original pool was built an elevation close to the main finished floor elevation of the house. For years the client wanted to “redo” the backyard. The new garden design included situating the pool at a lower elevation by incorporating steps and low retaining walls.

Also included are grilling and entertaining areas, garden and lawn spaces, pool cabana and rose and herb garden areas. A special retaining wall footing was designed to not impact the health of the existing Laurel Oak Tree. This oak tree was an important feature to keep and anchors the pool cabana and lower basement garden. The stone, brick and mortar colors lend themselves to blending with the existing house and architecture. The project also included a new gated driveway entry and driveway.
